Alvarez tells Atletico he wants a transfer after Real Madrid bid

Julian Alvarez had admitted he has told Atletico Madrid he would like to transfer away to the club to "fulfil my dream" with a huge-money move to Real Madrid now a step closer.

The Argentina forward is a summer transfer target for Atletico's capital neighbours - and the subject of a spat between the two clubs earlier in June.

Real Madrid issued a statement saying Atletico had rejected a 129m (150m) bid for Alvarez - and Atletico hit back by posting on social media: "You make us laugh even more than Barcelona".

At the time, Atletico also said they would not consider any offer for their striker, who is contracted until 2030.

But Alvarez, who is at the World Cup, has now told ESPN: "I cant hide it. I try to be an honest person. I spoke with Atletico de Madrid, and I think a transfer is the best option. I want to fulfil my dream.

Reading announce signing of Kyreece Lisbie

Reading have completed the signing of Kyreece Lisbie from Colchester United.

The winger, who scored 11 goals and recorded five assists in League Two last season, has signed a four-year deal.

The 22-year-old now makes the step up to League One - where his twin brother Kyrell Lisbie plays for League One Peterborough.

They are sons of former Charlton and Leyton Orient striker Kevin Lisbie

'Rogers keen on Arsenal switch'

Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers is keen on a move to Premier League champions Arsenal, according to talkSPORT.

One of Arsenals top priorities this summer is signing a left-winger and, as Your Site News reported at the start of the window, they have been stepping up their interest in Villas Rogers as they explore the conditions of a potential deal.

United prepared to make a loss on Ugarte - reports

Man Utd are prepared to make a loss on 42m Manuel Ugarte and sell him this summer, according to The Sun.

The midfielder, who is currently at the World Cup with Uruguay has underwhelmed since his move from Paris St-Germain in August 2024.

Ugarte made just eight Premier League starts last season, with Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro becoming Michael Carrick's favoured midfield pairing in the second half of the campaign.

Casemiro has left Old Trafford at the end of his contract but Ugarte now also looks likely to be part of an overhaul in the middle of the park.

'Spurs targeting Rashford'

Tottenham are targeting Marcus Rashford - but are not prepared to meet a 40m release clause, according to reports in The i Paper.

Spurs may also struggle to make a deal happen with Rashford keen on a return to European leagues after his successful loan spell at Barcelona.

It's reported that Rashford is not looking for a Premier League club but a return to Barcelona or a switch to Bayern Munich, who are tracking him.

Demichelis named RB Leipzig boss

Former Man City defender Martin Demichelis has been appointed RB Leipzig head coach.

Demichelis had been at Spanish side Mallorca but has swapped LaLiga for the Bundesliga to replace Ole Werner.

Why did Man City have to deal with Chelsea for Maresca?

Your Site News' Kaveh Solhekol:

"Maresca isn't the Chelsea manager and he hasn't been since the start of the year.

"When he walked out of Chelsea, he still had three and a half years on his contract. Chelsea believed he was contacted about the City job in the Autumn of 2025 and that had a negative impact on their season and that is why Chelsea have been involved.

"The news has not been confirmed by Man City or Chelsea. We do expect Maresca to become the City manager pretty quickly.

"I think he is the outstanding candidate to take over from Pep Guardiola. He has worked at City before and was an assistant on his staff when they won the treble.

"It is a tough act to follow but I don't think Enzo Maresca is going to achieve what Guardiola achieved but he has clear principles, which are alligned with how City want to operate and play.

"It was a risk for Chelsea to appoint him. He had not managed in the Premier League and was with Leicester City. But his time at Chelsea was a success. He got them back into the Champions League, won the Conference League and the Club World Cup.

"But there were problems behind the scenes; he didn't see eye to eye with the leadership team. Issues were bubbling away."

Ramsey top of Oxford United's shortlist

Latest from Your Site News' Mark McAdam:

Aaron Ramsey is at the top of Oxford Uniteds shortlist to replace Matt Bloomfield who left the club last week.

The former Arsenal man has held positive talks with Oxford United over their vacant head coach position and has impressed them with his vision despite very little management experience.

The 35-year-old retired from playing earlier this year and had a caretaker spell in charge of Cardiff in 2025.

Oxford are hoping to make a swift appointment in preparation for League One next season.

Rice agrees new Rangers deal

Rangers midfielder Bailey Rice has agreed a one-year extension, with the option of a further year.

The 19.year-old, who joined from Motherwells Academy in 2022, made two appearances for the Ibrox side last season.

Man City close in on Maresca appointment

Manchester City are close to completing a deal to appoint Enzo Maresca as head coach, according to Sky in Italy.

Sky in Italy are reporting that City will pay Chelsea more than 17m (20m) in compensation and a verbal agreement has been reached by all parties.

Our colleagues in Italy are also reporting that Maresca is due to travel to Manchester in the next 24 hours to sign a three-year contract.

Maresca is said to be excited to start his new challenge as he prepares to succeed Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City and Chelsea did not comment when contacted by Your Site News.
